Desperate stealth campaign for NewKCI can be beat! From $1 million now $1.6 million, including extorted $ from Edgemoor without contract. And Southwest refuses to admit their ruse to leave town.

The campaign manager for Yes on NewKCI is in HideFromThePublic mode.  Mark Nivens of The Dover Group ("I work for Sly James"), is furiously and very PRIVATELY courting the 18% of KCMO residents who even use KCI.

With polling in a statistical dead heat (just 51%), his strategy is to give up on changing minds.  Just browbeat the silk stocking districts 4 and 6 (river to 435, State Line to Troost) into voting yes.

The Yes campaign is bloated with cash and hopelessly short of time.  They reported today (at a Chamber Centurion (brainwashing/KumBaYahhhhh)  campaign update session which did not allow discussion of Burns&Mac corruption or Sly James' mismanagement) that they now have soared to $1.6 million in campaign slush, which will be spent at a preposterous rate of "96% direct voter contact"!!!!""

Plus, his fees, of course.  Which might also kick back, eventually, to Nevins'  perpetual sugar daddy boss, Sly James, for future campaigns.  Or who knows?  Perhaps a lifetime salary or stipend of payoffs since James is a lame duck with no future jobs on the horizon.

So what do the desperate business and labor goons get for their $1.6 million?
(Higher by far than the $900,000 they just forked over to pass 123GO Bonds)--

Well, off the top, cash bribes of $65,000 to Freedom (they clearly sold out too cheap)
and now 10 promised postcard mailers (deforestation of three counties in Missouri)
leaves what:
4% for TV, since that is NOT "direct voter contact".

This NewKCI campaign is a desperate effort to fool SOME of the people (18%) some of the time.

The late Steve Glorioso begged Sly James to wait till April to run this campaign.
The council delayed, insisting that the public wanted to know who the contractor was.
(Sly was stubborn--he and cohort in crime Jolie Justus rammed thru Burns & Mac, financed by Mike Merriman's dinky insurance company downtown--worth only $6 billion and no airport experience, strutting around claiming they could easily finance $1 billion?)

from its captive KCI passengers??  Do they want to hold us hostage to huge fare increases??And what's so hard about fixing the bathrooms?

                    That doesn't cost $536 million.

Enter Southwest Airlines.  Their threat is proving hollow.
They secretly told Sly James that if he didn't get this done this November, they would PULL FLIGHTS FROM KCI.

Yet today it was revealed, Southwest is unwilling to hold a press conference to say that.

Their rush job was clearly a big bluff.  No way is Southwest gonna piss off KCI passengers before Christmas!  And they're not leaving, giving up their Russian fist style control of half of our gates.  In fact, their long term goal, in cutting down the gates to 35 from 68 we own now, and offering to finance the bonds, is to drive OTHER airlines away!  And drive up rates.  Holding us hostage.

So stick with the strategy:
If someone phones you (or knocks on your door), LIE and say, "Of course I'm voting yes!"
Then gather friends and family and go to the polls Tuesday Nov. 7 and VOTE NO.
The city will be forced to come back with a much better plan.

The city of Kansas City Missouri is proposing to sign a legally binding contract with Terminal Developer, LLC for a no-bid airport terminal project likely to be worth well over a billion dollars.  Mayor James, City Manager Schulte, and Council member Justus are particularly in a big rush to force this deal through, before the other Council members and the public understand what is really happening.

Who is Terminal Developer, LLC ?  Do you know?  This basic information hasn't been disclosed.

Frantze, Vice President of SMF Registered Services, Inc., which in turn appears to be an entity of KCMO law firm Stinson Leonard Street, 1201 Walnut, Suite 2900.

Mr. Frantze, others at Stinson Leonard Street, (formerly known for decades as Stinson Mag and Fizzell) and Burns and McDonnell have previously donated to the Sylvester James campaign.  And recall that State Sen. Jolie Justus accepted multiple lobbying gifts from Stinson Leonard Street.  In fact, 

Burns and McDonnell have been among the largest contributors to both Sylvester James and Jolie Justus.  There are so many simultaneous intertwining conflicts of interest at-play in this terminal proposal, without the parties recusing themselves, that it resembles an incestuous orgy.

So how about this analogy instead?

KCMO is being governed like an open-air illegal bookie operation.  Is this a crime, or just a crying shame?  

Do you know  how many attorneys sit on the KCMO Council, including the Mayor?  Of the 13 members, over half are attorneys.  Our understanding is that Councilman Quinton Lucas actually teaches Contract Law at the University of Kansas School of Law.  Have they all gone AWOL (absent without leave) when it comes to properly representing the best interests of KC residents?

According to the Memorandum Of Understanding, we know that Ray Kowalik would sign the document twice, first as President of Terminal Developer, LLC (the Developer) and second as President of Burns and McDonnell Engineering (the Contractor).  But we still have no definitive understanding of who actually stands behind Terminal Developer, LLC.  Why is the identity of this group a mystery?

Before more truth is revealed about this crony airport terminal proposal, Mayor James and Council member Justus are trying to slam the door on the public, to prevent sunshine from falling on the facts of the matter.

We are gratified, since this is a brand new blog, not even a website till later this week.

And thank you to Tony's commenters. Go easy on me, please.  I just want to make a difference.   I didn't quite get the one about someone being a snail, but then I am from Iowa, and we don't talk thattaway.

I did smile at being termed a "socialite".  I would say that I am "sociable". An extrovert who loves people.  Especially artists and writers and movers and shakers and voters.  But I am not from the Sunset Hill class of people.

I grew up in Des Moines, had only one outfit with a recognizable label in it.  I got it on sale but was so proud that it was a Bonnie Bell.  Grosgrain ribbon trim down the front of the sweater.  Oooh, ahh...it was like my blankie.  Made me feel good walking around the square at Roosevelt High School before class, when all the soshies ignored me.  I wore that turquoise sweater and skirt to public high school all three years, three times a week, by rotating the polyester blouses I bought in the bargain bin at Sears.  While one of my friends wore Ferragamo shoes; I wore shoes from Bakers (like Payless).  I was a violist who played Beethoven string quartets every day during fifth hour.

I had two or three dates in high school...if you count Sadie Hawkins Day.  I was a great student, very active in my 6000 member church downtown, (I rode the bus there every Wednesday).  I was a civil rights advocate.

Rather than miss "the" supposed social event of my entire young life, going to prom, I finally asked Judy Levine, my Ferragamo friend, to please make her little brother take me.  I wore a princess cut organza sheath dress. My Mom and I invented how to layer two pieces of fabric for a shimmery wow factor.  We considered that pretty snazzy for Norwegian Lutherans.   She sewed it up from a McCall's pattern.  I splurged once in my life and had my pointy kitten-heeled fabric shoes from Bakers dyed to match.  Since my date was in the 10th grade and could not drive, Judy and her older sister Linda drove us four for pizza at Noah's.

Judy and Linda then drove us to the school gym, and waited in the parking lot in their Dad's Lincoln, while Michael and I danced three dances to show off my dress and corsage.  To no one, basically, because the soshies of course still ignored me.  No after parties for me.  We were all home by 11.  At least I could say I had been to prom once.  So, Tony, I am hardly the socialite!

I earned spending money to go to college on a full four year scholarship to Wichita State--by babysitting--for 35 cents an hour.  I still know all the multiples of 35 cents x 1 hour, hour and a half, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 hours.  A babysitter's wage then was definitely not $15 an hour!  Tho I do know a woman with four unruly adopted foster kids here in Shawnee-- and she pays $30 an hour to her sitter.

Oh well, life worked out great.  And on the plus side, I am also not a socialist.  I don't like Bernie Sanders, and I gave up on Hillary in 2008, tho to my mind, she still would have been better as President than Obama.  She at least grew up Republican, before marrying Bill.
